Lemon is a small wonderful ingredient which is used in numerous culinary preparations, juices, smoothies, mousses, etc. This fruit has lots of uses which include usage as a short-term preservative for sliced fruits, a cleaning agent, medicinal uses, in aromatherapy, etc. It also has a lot of beauty benefits due to the numerous compounds present in it. Lemon is enriched with vitamin C which produces collagen, citric acid that helps treat acne and pimples, potassium and lutein which fight free radicals, folate, copper, calcium, magnesium, zinc, etc. Lemon is one of the major constituent in most of the face masks and products. You can make several face masks at home using lemon as the main ingredient and get rid of several skin problems without the need to go to a dermatologist or spending on expensive cosmetics. Try some of them below:
1. Lemon Juice, Egg White And Brown Sugar
This face pack is a natural exfoliator. Brown sugar in this pack helps remove dead skin cells and egg white provides extra radiance and glow to your skin. Mix 1 tbsp of lemon juice, 2 tbsp of brown sugar (or fine white sugar) and an egg white in a bowl. Scrub your skin gently with this mixture for 5 minutes. Leave it for another 10 minutes and wash off with regular to lukewarm water.
2. Honey, Aloe And Lemon Face Mask
Honey is a very good exfoliant which helps keep your skin soft and smooth. It also treats and heals dry skin. This face mask reduces marks and eliminates pimples. Add lemon, honey and aloe in equal parts in a bowl and apply the mixture on your face. Do it every day. Instead of washing your face with a face wash, you can use this mixture. Repeat the process regularly to get better results.
3. Honey, Essential Oil, Lemon And Milk
This pack is for all skin types and is a natural skin lightening pack. Just add 1 tbsp of honey, few drops of any essential oil of your choice, 1 tbsp milk powder and 1 tbsp of lemon juice in a bowl and give them a good stir. Apply this prepared pack on your face and neck, leave for 15-20 minutes and rinse off with cold water. You can use a moisturizer afterwards.
4. Cucumber Juice, Tomato, Sandalwood And Lemon
If you want to brighten your skin, you can use this face mask with a very easy preparation. Just add 1 tbsp of cucumber juice, 1 tbsp of tomato juice, 1 tbsp of sandalwood powder and 1 tbsp of lemon juice in a bowl and make a smooth paste. You can add more lemon juice if your skin is oily as lemon helps absorb oil from the skin. Apply this paste on your face after cleaning it with water. Leave the paste on your face for 15-20 minutes and wash off later with cold water.
5. Lemon, Almond Oil And Honey
This is another wonderful lemon juice face mask. If you want to get rid of wrinkles, blend together a few drops of almond oil, 1 tbsp of honey and a few drops of lemon juice. Apply this mix on your face, avoiding the eyes and let it sit for 15 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water.
Note: You can apply this mixture around your eyes to get rid of fine lines but make sure not to let it inside your eyes.
6. Potatoes And Lemon Juice
Potatoes are rich sources of vitamin C. It is an effective remedy for removing hyper pigmentation and dark spots. It helps in improving skin tone and lightening the dark circles around the eyes. It also helps to get rid of sun-tan as it is often termed as a homemade facial for oily skin. For this face mask, squeeze a lemon in a bowl filled with finely grated potato (1/2 medium sized), turned into smooth pulp. Apply the mixture all around your face, except the eye area. Let it stay for 20 minutes and then wash it off with lukewarm water.
7. Fuller’s Earth And Lemon
This is wonderful face mask for oily skin and for skin lightening. Fuller’s earth powder has excellent oil absorbing properties. For this, all you need to do is mix 2 tbsp of the fuller’s earth powder with 1 tbsp of lemon juice. Make sure that no lumps should stay. Apply this all over your face and neck. Let it rest for 15 minutes before washing.
Tip: You can also add rosewater in this mask with the rest of the ingredients.
8. Lemon And Egg White
Egg white and lemon face mask is a famous face pack for flawless skin. It is one of the most celebrated lemon face mask for acne. Egg contains many essential compounds, vitamins and minerals that are important for healthy and younger looking skin. For this face mask, beat an egg white till it becomes frothy. Juice half lemon in the egg, apply it on your face and neck to gently massage it (avoid mouth and eyes). Leave it for 30 minutes and rinse off with cold water afterwards.
9. Lemon, Tomato And Oats
This is another wonderful pack for removing tan. Tomatoes have natural compounds that help in skin lightening and melanin growth is prevented by vitamin C present in lemon. First of all, finely grind some oatmeal to make a powder. Add 2 tbsp of this powder to 1 tbsp of tomato juice and ½-1 tbsp of lemon juice and prepare a fine paste. With the help of an applicator or blusher brush, apply this on your face and neck. Leave it for 15-20 minutes and wash it off with cold water later.
10. Cucumber, Rose Water And Lemon
This is a perfect face pack for removing sun tan as it contains the perfect combination of cucumber and lemon. Application of this mask every alternate day will give you a perfect, tan-free skin. Cucumber contains silica which rejuvenates the skin and removes unwanted marks from the skin. For this, blend some cucumber into a fine paste. To it, add 1 tbsp of rose water and 1 tbsp of lemon juice. Apply this solution on your clear face. Let it stay for 10 minutes and then rinse it off with cold water. Apply any moisturizer high in SPF afterwards to reduce the acidic effect of lemon on your face.
11. Yogurt, Tomato And Lemon Mask
Yogurt contains citric acid which is a great source to reduce the sun tan and blemishes from your face. Tomato juice, on the other hand, has astringent properties along with the compounds that lighten the skin naturally. This homemade pack would reduce the pigmentation and the dark patches from your sun-tanned skin. For this mask, you will need 2 tbsp of tomato pulp, 1 tbsp of lemon juice and 1 tbsp of yogurt. Mix them well and apply a layer of this mixture on your face. Keep it for 30 minutes. Check if it’s completely dry, if not, keep it for some time more and then wash it off with cold water.
Note: This is a thin mask and may spill. Make sure to wear old clothes.
12. Lemon And Aloe Vera Mask
Aloe vera contains many compounds such as minerals, amino acids and enzymes that are useful for our health and skin. Its beauty benefits are used in many cosmetics and its healing properties are utilized in medicines since ages. This face mask is for every skin type and works wonders for sensitive skin and for removing tan. Take 1 tbsp of aloe gel and add 2-3 drops of lemon juice to it. Apply it onto your face and massage gently for 5 minutes. Leave it for another couple of minutes and wash off later. You will notice the difference instantly.
13. Lemon Peel And Milk Mask
Take a tbsp of lemon peel powder or if you don’t have it, just grate the peel of a lemon. To it, add 1 tbsp of raw milk and make a fine paste. If you are using grated peel, use blender to make a smooth paste. Apply the prepared mixture on your face and let it dry completely. Wash off with regular water and apply moisturizer. You can apply the mixture twice a week to reduce tanning and to lighten the skin.
Note: Apply the mix to a small portion of your skin first to check that the lemon paste is not too harsh for your skin.
14. Lemon, Green Tea And Turmeric Mask
Turmeric is a natural antiseptic and has skin lightening and anti-inflammatory properties which are helpful in minimizing scars, fighting acnes and other skin problems. Green tea is rich in antioxidants and is a natural UV protector which helps in nourishing the skin and fight wrinkles. All you need to do is, add 2 tablespoon of brewed green tea, a pinch of turmeric and half teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice in a bowl. Mix them well and apply it to your face using a cotton ball. Let it dry for 3 minutes and then repeat. After applying the paste evenly, let it stay for 10 minutes and then wash it off and pat your face dry.
Note: If the turmeric stains your face a bit (unlikely with this quantity), use a sugar scrub to remove it.
15. Cinnamon, Honey, Nutmeg And Lemon Mask
Cinnamon has lots of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that are essential for our skin because they help prevent the destruction of our cells. To prepare a mask you need to have 2 tsp of lemon juice, ½ tsp of cinnamon powder, ½ tsp of nutmeg powder and 1 tsp of honey. Mix all the ingredients to prepare a smooth paste and apply a thin layer on your face. Keep it for 30 minutes. Rinse the mask with lukewarm water and moisturize if necessary. Wear the mask twice a week, preferably before bed.
Note: This mask may burn in the starting 5 minutes of the application. If you cannot resist the burn, wash it off in 10 minutes.
16. Baking Soda, Tea Tree Oil And Lemon Mask
Tea tree oil consists of compounds like nerolidol, cineole, viridiflorol, etc., that are responsible for antimicrobial properties of this oil and therefore this serves as a wonderful lemon face pack for acne and its scars. To prepare the mask, mix 2 tbsp of baking soda, half of lemon squeezed and 2-3 drops of tea tree essential oil. Apply this on your face for 10 minutes and wash off later. Do this twice a week for visible result.
Note: If you have sensitive skin then you can add water to minimize the effect of bicarb.
17. Lemon Juice, Sour Cream and Honey
Sour cream helps form connective tissues that supports the skin and locks the moisture in the skin. Therefore, it is an excellent ingredient to treat rough and dry skin. To make this amazing lemon and honey face mask along with sour cream, mix 1 tbsp of lemon juice with 2 tbsp of honey and 2 tbsp sour cream. Apply the mixture on your face leaving areas around your eyes. Let it stay for 20 minutes and rinse well with normal water afterwards. Moisturize if required.
18. Lemon Juice, Rose Water, Turmeric And Gram Flour
This face pack will not only remove the unwanted tan but will also brighten the skin tone. For the preparations you will need few drops of lemon extract, 4-5 drops of rose water, a pinch of turmeric powder and 2 tbsp of gram flour. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and make a paste. Apply a thin layer of this paste on your face leaving areas around the eyes. Wash off with lukewarm water after 15-20 minutes when it dries and pat dry the face with a soft towel afterward.
19. Avocado, Lime And Honey
Avocado consists of folate and multivitamins like vitamin C, B6, A and E. It helps cleanse the impurities in the face and provides extra hydration. To make avocado and lemon face mask for oily to combination skin, mash half a ripe avocado in a bowl and to it add half tbsp of fresh lemon juice and 1 tbsp of honey. Mix well to form a thick paste and apply this to your face for 15-20 minutes. Wash off with regular to lukewarm water later on.
20. Lemon, Gram Flour And Yogurt
This is another face mask for rough, dull and dry skin. You can apply this pack every alternate day to get soft and healthy skin. For preparing this mask, take 4 tbsp of gram flour and to it, add 1 tbsp of yogurt and 1 tbsp of lemon juice and a pinch of turmeric as an additional ingredient. Make a smooth paste (you can add more yogurt to achieve the desired consistency). Apply the pack on your face leaving the areas around your eyes. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes before washing it off.
