Embarrassed by those witty warts? This is one of the most common skin problems faced by a number of people. It can occur anywhere on the body, but they are mainly visible on the hands and feet. Warts on the feet are known as plantar warts. These warts appear in clusters or singly, and a black spot is noticeable in the middle of these warts. These dots are blood vessels that provide oxygen and nutrients to the warts.
Warts can be classified into a number of types, but the most common ones are plantar warts and flat warts. Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is the main cause of warts that makes them contagious. You can catch it if your skin comes in contact with infected skin. Besides, it may spread from one part of the body to another through scratches or cuts. Common symptoms of warts include small, fleshy, grainy bumps; rough to touch; flesh-colored, white, pink or tan. To get rid of these stubborn and painful warts, perform the following home remedies.
Home Remedies for Warts
1. Baking Soda
For plantar wart removal, add 1 teaspoon of white vinegar in some baking soda to prepare a smooth paste. Apply this paste on your warts two times a day.
- Alternatively, you can also form a thick paste by mixing baking soda and castor oil. Dab this paste and cover the affected area with the help of a bandage, leaving it for the whole night. Next morning, remove the bandage and repeat the same process for a couple of days.
2. Banana Peel
Tape a piece of banana peel above the affected area for plantar wart treatment. Perform this remedy a number of times a day especially before going to bed. For better results, make use of green banana peels. Or else, rub your warts gently with a fresh slice of banana.
3. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple Cider Vinegar for warts is worth a try in order to remove them completely. Mix 2 parts of apple cider vinegar in 1 part of water. Use a clean cotton ball to apply this mixture on the infected area and cover it with a tape or bandage. Do it for a couple of weeks.
The tremendous antiseptic properties of turmeric help heal the stubborn warts. Take some powdered turmeric and add water to make a paste. Apply it on warts and leave it for half an hour. Later, wash off with plain water. Follow this remedy three times a day for a month.
Note: To get rid of turmeric color from the skin, rub a lemon slice over the warts.
5. Cumin Seeds
Crush some cumin seeds and spread them on a cloth. Now, wrap this cloth around the infected area. Do this on regular basis in order to reduce the pain and severity of warts.
Grind figs in a mixer and add water to make a paste. Spread it on the infected part. Leave it for 15 minutes and wash off with water. Perform this treatment two times a day for 45 days.
7. Transparent Nail Paint
Daub transparent nail paint early morning and before going to bed on the warts and see the results within a week or two.
Due to its antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties, garlic is considered the best cure for genital warts. Apply a crushed garlic clove on the warts and wrap it with a bandage. After 20 minutes, remove the bandage and wash the skin area thoroughly. Repeat the same process two times every day for a week.
- Moreover, you can also consume garlic capsules 3 times a day for up to 7 days.
Rubbing alcohol is an effective remedy to get rid of genital warts symptoms. It may take a week or even a month to cure this way.
10. Vitamin C
Consuming vitamin C can help you remove warts in an easier way. Take a bowl and add 2 to 3 crushed vitamin C tablets. Mix some water to make a fine paste. Rub this paste gently on your warts and cover the area with the help of a bandage. It may cause a burning sensation initially, but will go away sooner.
11. Hot Water Soak
Soak infected area in slightly hot water to get rid of genital warts. Make sure that the water is not too hot as it may burn your skin.
Cover your warts thoroughly with a thick layer of honey and then wrap it up with a bandage. Leave it for the next 24 hours before changing the cloth. Continue this process daily to get rid of plantar warts.
Take a potato, peel off its outer layer and cut a round slice with a knife. Massage the skin area thrice a day. This remedy can be used for treating wart below the foot.
14. Pineapple Juice
This is one of the simplest remedy for wart removal. Soak the area affected by warts in pure organic pineapple juice 2 to 3 times a day for a couple of minutes.
Apply some grated seeds of pomegranate directly on your warts. Or else, roast the upper skin of pomegranate fruit and then grind it to form a fine paste. Daub this paste directly onto the affected skin area for the next couple of days. For better results, you may add some lemon juice in the paste.
Apply organic lemon juice on the affected area two times a day.
Apply extracted juice of raw cauliflower on the wart and cover it with the help of a bandage plaster. Repeat the same process 2 to 3 times every day for 2 weeks.
Mix thickened sap of papaya in water and then apply two times a day (in the morning and at night).
19. Salicylic Acid
Before applying salicylic acid, soak the infected skin in warm water for about 5 minutes so as to enhance the recovery process. Apply some salicylic acid and dry thoroughly.
20. Onion Juice
Grab some onions and extract its juice. Apply it onto the warts to get rid of them quickly.
21. Duct Tape
Duct tape warts remedy has been widely used for the removal of warts, athletes’ feet and blister. Employ this remedy after using any remedies such as apple cider vinegar or tea tree oil.
22. Coriander Juice
Grate a coriander to prepare poultice. Now, apply this poultice directly on your warts to treat them naturally.

26. Essential Oil
Rub few drops of any essential oil such as lavender oil, garlic capsule oil, clove oil, Vitamin A oil, Vitamin E oil, Frankincense oil, canola oil, wheat germ oil, lemon essential oil to heal the skin before and after the removal of warts.
27. Echinacea Pills
Consume 1 to 2 Echinacea pills in a day as prescribed on the bottle to cure warts. Besides, you can prepare tea or apply its tincture to obtain outstanding results. It helps destroy the virus that causes warts.
Take a dandelion, remove its head and massage its milk on your warts. Cover with a bandage and perform the same procedure two times daily until the warts are completely gone.
29. Castor Oil
Apply castor oil on affected area several times a day to get rid of warts on the hands. Soak a cotton ball in castor oil before going to bed and then cover it. Next morning, rinse and immerse your warts in warm water for a couple of minutes. Repeat the same process for next few days.
30. Indian Squill
Mix this powdered herb with cold water and apply it on warts for 20 minutes. Afterwards, rinse off with water. Repeat this twice a day until you get rid of warts.
31. Aloe Vera

32. Tree Tea Oil
Tea tree oil has been extensively used for the treatment of genital warts. Dilute some tea tree oil with aloe vera gel or water and then apply it on affected part several times a day to get rid of these warts.

33. Birch Bark
Prepare tea from powdered birch bark. Steep 1 teaspoon of this bark in a cup filled with boiled water for about 10 minutes. Allow it to cool down, immerse a cloth and then press this cloth on the warts.
34. “Milk” of Milkweed
Slice a couple of leaves of the milkweed plant, press the bottom of the stem to release the sap. Dab this milk onto your warts and cover it.

39. Willow Tree Bark
Apply the moistened tree bark on your genital warts and cover it with the help of a bandage or gauze.
