1. Flax Seeds

9. Fenugreek

21. Boric Acid

Being an anti-fungal agent, boric acid is quite effective for vaginal infection (19). It combats all kinds of yeast infections including that in the vaginal area. Basically, boric acid is an antiseptic, and when used for cleansing the vagina, it helps restore the pH level. Boric acid comes in a capsule form which has to be inserted directly into the vagina. These capsules can be made at home by filling empty gel capsules with boric acid powder.

Note – Don’t consume it internally as it is a poison.

22. Garlic

Garlic is among the top home remedies for vaginal dryness, due to its antibiotic and anti-bacterial properties (20). Take a garlic clove, peel it and insert it into the vagina and leave it overnight. It will combat the yeast infection in the vaginal area and soothe the itching as well.

  • Alternatively, use garlic oil for the purpose. Mix a few drops of garlic oil with a tsp of vitamin E oil. After blending well apply it to the vaginal area. Wait for 10-15 minutes before washing it off with warm water.

23. Sea Salt

Sea salt is known to control microbes growth including fungi and bacteria (21). It has some very good anti-bacterial properties and treats infections effectively. Add 1 tbsp of salt to around 2 cups of water and wash the vagina with this.

  • Or, pour half a cup of sea salt to the bath water. Sit in this water for 10 minutes to get the relief from the itchiness caused due to dryness.
  • Mix a few drops each of chamomile, rosemary, lavender, and thyme essential oils. Add a tsp of sea salt to it. Pour this mixture into a bottle and fill it up with water. Use it to rinse your vagina for at least 2-3 times a day.

24. Avocado

Avocados contain healthy fats which help keep the vaginal walls well lubricated and strong (22). They are sources of potassium and B6, both of which boost the desire for sex. Either you can consume them raw or make some yummy recipes out of avocados. This would surely boost your libidos. You can also use avocado oil as it is rich in Vitamin E and Vitamin A. It is better than other processes or chemical based oils.

25. Sweet Potatoes

Sweet potatoes are rich in Vitamin A, which keeps the uterus and vaginal walls strong (23). It stimulates the body for producing sex hormones, keeping you energetic. Vitamin A also aids generate sex hormones, and so the vagina remains energetic and healthy.

Herbal Remedies for Vaginal Lubrication

28. Aloe Vera Gel

  • Alternatively, you can apply some aloe vera gel near the vaginal opening.

1) Prolonged use of comfrey isn’t suggested since it leads to the risk of accumulation of pyrrolizidine alkaloids, thus damaging the liver (27).

38. Chasteberry

Since years now, Chasteberry has shown its effectiveness in treating menopausal difficulties due to the presence of phytoestrogens (35). It perfectly deals with symptoms like vaginal dryness, mild depression, sweating and hot flashes. It can be used alone or in combination with herbs such as black cohosh or Dong Quai. 39. Dandelion

Dandelion leaves help in vaginal lubrication. For preparing this infusion, mix ½ oz of dried Dandelion leaves in boiling water. Let it boil for 10 minutes. Consume 3 cups on a daily basis. If you are taking supplements, restrict it to 3000mg daily.

40. Gotu Kola

  1. I never would have guessed that soy could help with vaginal dryness! If I ever have problems with this, I’ll be sure to keep that in mind! It wouldn’t be hard to add that to my diet.
